Forgiveness Formula: Finding Lasting Freedom in Christ, by CJ Hitz and Shelley Hitz.
“Sometimes life doesn’t seem to make sense or “add up” in our math. We have life circumstances that make us question whether we can truly have a full life. Divorce. Death. Sickness. Financial losses. And life doesn’t seem fair.
Whatever your circumstances, we believe every reader can benefit from what we share in these pages, whether you’ve endured varying levels of pain or struggle in your own life or you know someone who has.”
Journey to the Well: A Novel by Diana Wallis Taylor.
One of the most well-known and loved stories of Jesus’s ministry is the encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. Now the creative mind of Diana Wallis Taylor imagines how the Samaritan woman got there in the first place. Marah is just a girl of thirteen when her life is set on a path that will eventually lead her to a life-changing encounter with the Messiah. But before that momentous meeting she must traverse through times of love lost and found, cruel and manipulative men, and gossiping women. This creative and accurate portrayal of life in the time of Jesus opens a window into a fascinating world. Taylor’s rich descriptions of the landscapes, lifestyles, and rituals mesh easily with the emotional and very personal story of one woman trying to make a life out of what fate seems to throw at her. This exciting and heartwrenching story will fascinate readers and lend new life to a familiar story.
Wholehearted: Three Life-Changing Commands of Jesus by Roger Wernette
By looking at three truly life-changing commands given to us by Jesus, Roger Wernette guides the reader to a new understanding of what Christianity is all about. He shows you how just eleven words — love God, obey God, & teach others to love and obey God — will unlock God’s power in your own life as never before. Thoroughly biblical, “Wholehearted” is both challenging and uplifting. With discussion questions for each chapter, the book is great for groups as well as for individuals.
The Fence My Father Built by Linda S. Clare is a poignant novel about finding where you belong. Muri Pond is taking her two children, Nova and Tru, home to her father’s home in the desert area of Oregon after the loss of her job and the end of her marriage. She grew up never knowing Joseph Pond, but after his death, she finds she has nowhere else to go, so going to his home makes sense. Until she finds out that his home is a trailer with a group of cobbled together additions and is occupied by her quirky aunt and uncle and their potbellied pigs. That’s only the beginning of Muri’s trouble, however. Joseph left a fight over water rights with the town’s best-loved citizen in which Muri quickly finds herself trapped in as well, plus Nova has no intention of living in the middle of nowhere. Clare puts Muri in the middle of an impossible situation and every turn of the page only seems to turn up the heat. Her writing is powerful and deeply human. I hope she writes more fiction soon! – review by Christina Lockstein from Christy’s Book Blog.
Holy Parenting: Making the Common Sacred by Benjamin Kerns
Having a child is truly amazing. However, if we are honest, there is a natural grieving process that happens as we realize our old life is now over. One of the most difficult aspects to get over is losing personal space and time. All of the freedoms we have grown accustomed to have instantly gone away.
For Christian parents who have once had a thriving walk with God, having little children has made it next to impossible to stay connected the way we used to. But take heart, this season of life doesn’t have to be defined by dry spirituality.
Holy Parenting is a book that walks along with you as a parent; helping you come to terms with this new reality, expand their devotional diet, and provide helpful tools to develop your own faith, as well as the faith of your children.
My Kindle Fire by Jim Cheshire is
“This book is a great companion to the Fire. I have Kindle Fire for Dummies and it is a primer compared to this book. First of all the table of contents is detailed so it is very easy to find a specific point to go to if you are looking to jump into one area before systematically working through this guide.” – Amazon reviewer
“This book is intended for those who have never used a tablet or those who are looking to buy a tablet and they want to know what the Kindle Fire has to offer before deciding on their purchase. The book also contains a great number of pictures and illustrations that explain in detail each step of any process or what components each screen has. Lastly the book can also be used as a reference to learn or explore unknown functions in the Kindle Fire. It will probably not teach very much things to advanced or experienced users of the Kindle Fire as the information is very basic and most of the instructions are intuitive to any user of android phones or other tablets.” – Amazon reviewer
Hopefully, you find some of those books useful.
